Fasting not allowed for any reason during silent period - EC Chairman

Election Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said that fasting will not be allowed for any reason during the election silent period which commences from midnight yesterday (13).

He added that the Election Commission had issued a written notice to the acting IGP to stop any person from fasting during the silent period and vacate places where hunger strikes are taking place.
